Mom's Birthday

Yesterday we celebrated my mom's birthday. She usually has a party for her grand kids and gives them gifts instead of her receiving gifts. Anyway, she called me Wednesday "I want to have a treasure hunt at the party." So I offered to make a treasure chest cake. I don't have a pan so I decided to try this plan of action. 9X9 glass pan and a loaf pan. But I was still concerned with how to make it look open, I went googling online to find some ideas. One woman cut a wedge out to make it look open, the others used some type of support. Well I didn't have time to plan with those ideas... I had too many things going on and I didn't' get started on the cake until 2 and half hours before the party. This is why I went to Walmart the night before and forgot to get butter for the butter cream frosting and this morning I woke up and decided to bake the cake then go get the butter while it was cooling. Nope couldn't do that I didn't have any eggs. I swore there was a dozen in there. Not sure who ate them lol. After Walmart I got started. It was fun and I even let the boys help decorate it. So that explains the random pieces of candy. Isn't it silly looking?
