New, old chairs!

I have been wanting new chairs for a while. Kids are so rough on chairs that they fall apart quickly. I have priced out chairs all over the place. Minimum I am going to spend $250 and then up! Will has been good about me looking but buying it was "we need to get more life out of what we have until..." At one point I had him telling me to just go buy them. I guess I just didn't want to part with the money yet. I told him we can find something I know it. I just can't justify $50 or more on a chair. That is ridiculous. I mean really all we are going to do it sit our bums on it! Then this last week my friend decides her scrap booking desk is too big for her bedroom. I have been coveting this desk since she got it. I just didn't have the room for one in our bedroom. One computer desk, two night stands, a long dresser with mirror, tall wardrobe dresser, full size entertainment center, short filing cabinet, scrap booking storage, and a California king bed. I couldn't even think of a place to put it. So I painted my room a week and a half ago and we got a new entertainment center that was smaller. None of the side selves just the center unit, that made a little room. Then I decided I wanted a different computer desk from the same line of the entertainment center. It is a small computer amoire. "It would look good in the family room "I tell my husband. He sees where this whole thing is headed and smiles. He knows I am making room! I began explaining move this here and that there and mean while he is just staring at me knowing who is moving most of the furniture. But I am talking like i will do most of the work. He knows better. It was funny. And of course we moved the bed in front of the window and the entertainment center is on the other wall. The long dresser is getting moved and the computer is being moved out of our room. And there it is a whole CORNER for my desk! After all the moving I say "Hey the desk would fit really nice over here." He laughs at me and told me "Buy the desk from Becky" I am dancing around like I just won the lottery. And he is laughing even harder by now. I was so excited I even went and picked it up myself. I don't need help, I want my desk. LOL. I had it set up within a few hours and full of all my crap! Yes in the scrap booking world my friends and I call it crap. It is very expensive crap! I think I filled every drawer. It is the coolest desk. Anyway back to chairs... Becky calls and she has found a used desk that is solid wood from Goodwill that needs to be refinished. Becky has a mini van so she asked for the assistance from my big white mammoth, the suburban aka VURBAN! We loaded it ourselves because the guy was too lazy to get off his cigarette break to help us. While waiting I see three chairs right around each other and say "I sure wish there were six. The cushions need help but the wood is in good shape." I start looking around and sure enough all six are there and price separately. I bought all six. We got her full size desk, and her chair then I crammed six chairs in all different directions into my poor Vurban.... But hey it worked. This last week I have been reupholstering them one at a time. The cushions weren't' in bad shape the burlap straps holding the cushions in place were either pulled through or stretched out. I fixed and sanitized them. I did all of this for under $60 total! I was so happy when I finished with all of them. But in the mean time Becky was over most of the weekend sanding and painting this desk. It was so funny, I told her to do it in my front room because it is too hot outside right now. We are hitting about 112 lately. It was a funny weekend. I went over Sunday evening to help her put her new dresser together. It was a DIY weekend at our house! I will post some pictures of my room when I get it the way I want it and I feel it is finished, we are almost there. I promise Will!!! Almost done babe. I swear!

This is the after chair!! It is a sage green/brown. I keep teasing my husband that we have chairs with our last name initial on it. Look in the center... DO you see the V??? Too funny!William took this while standing on the dining room table.
Becky Hey it was your show that day!
Cody Bear and Baby!
Baby ran under the desk while we were painting. LOL she got a frost job!
