Are we safe?

This is the question I was faced with this morning. You can see it is early in the morning 6:20 Arizona time. About 30 minutes ago I was awaken by the dogs barking. Not just a few barks but a few minutes of alarm barks. I was so scared when I came down the hall to see a shadow of a person in my house. Clear in the middle part of my family room. I quickly flipped on the light to see who it was, because I couldn't see. My heart skipped a beat when I saw a face I didn't recognize. She, yes a woman, begins screaming "you have my dog." I asked "Who are you and why are you in my house?!!!" She says, " I lost my dog and that is it!" I said "No, ma'am you are mistaken that is my dog. You need to leave now." She continues, "You have a dog you know what it is like to lose them. Will you help me look?" She starts to step toward me and Scarlett got between us and starting barking again. I told her, "You need to get out of my house, go look in the backyard." She keeps talking and I get her to step outside. I re-locked the back door deadbolt, run down the hall to the phone and called 911! Oh my gosh, I haven't been that scared in a while. I couldn't believe someone was in the house at 5 something in the morning. This woman was in a button down shirt and nothing else but shoes. I knew she had some mental condition issues to be dressed like and be confused that I had her dog. But dang, she was IN MY HOUSE!!!! Walking around. They kept me on the phone while she began to hit and kick my backdoor, screaming "let me in, let me in, How do I get out?" I just sat in the hall to keep an eye on her and waited for the police. They had to take her out of my backyard. The officer came to let me know she is very confused and doesn't know where she is. Okay so while on the phone with the 911 operator I text Will," someone broke into the house and the police have her. Seriously!!" He calls, "What was she doing in the house?" I was just freaking out at that point. After the police left and things were alright, it happened. The tears of anger, fear, overwhelming happiness that nothing worse happened, and relief! Then I was okay! I told Will I want a few thousand dollar alarm system on the house! He said "okay? If that is going to make you feel better."

Thank goodness for my attack alarm runt dog! Scarlett is the most skittish dog and frightens easily, but she made sure that I knew someone is in the house.
Still don't know how she got our gate, that was latched open, nor how she got our back door open. We have doubled sided deadbolts on all our doors. Even the garage door! Who knows! But anyway I am okay kids are fine and slept through the whole thing.
I met a stranger face to face, in my house, in my garments! I wasn't even dressed for company. LOL Just plain strange. Well that's enough excitement for me for a LONG time.

Have a great day!

HOW BAZZAR! WHO THE CRAP WOULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT? Did they haul her away? I hope they can do something about it so she doesn't continue to do this to other poor unsuspecting people. You poor thing. I feel sorry for people who have mental problems, but they just can't do things that are against the law, somethings gotta give. You are probably scarred for life. Good luck with that. HUGS.

OH MY GOSH!!! That is so terrifying! I thought it might be april fools day when I first started reading about it. But it was real! Scary. Thank heaven for that little Scarlett dog. Bless her forever. Who knows what might have happened if the doggie hadn't barked and the woman stayed inside unchecked. She might have tried to climb in bed with you. YIKES!! I feel for you. Glad all are safe and that it's over! With no husband at night, I would have a security system for sure. We don't live in the world we grew up in any more.

I am still freaked out about this whole thing Sas! Anything could have happened. Heavenly Father was definitely watching out for you! Thank goodness you are so level headed and Scarlett was so vigilant about alerting you.
